God has been moving in wonderful ways in Guatemala! My first week doing ministry after being in quarantine has been amazing. I’ve been so blessed to have the opportunities to serve with the ministries we’ve partnered with. Each day has been different and filled with so much variety in serving. I’ve been in awe with all that God is doing. I’ve learned with intimacy with God as I meditate on the word, being prayerful, and being obedient are a fragrance to the Lord. During this time of growing in intimacy and being more in tune with the Holy Spirit has led me to some great encounters and experiences.

Twice a week my team and I helped with children’s ministry such as vocational bible school and the soccer program. The children here are so precious and fun. It was so much fun being able to play games and soccer with them.

Once a week my team and I attend bible study led by others doing ministry in Guatemala. It has been so good being ministered to and being filled up with his presence and a time for rest. They spoke truth into us, prayed over us and helped us to be rooted and grounded in the word. We studied the book of Song of Songs. We focused on that our fragrance inside of us the truth of God, is a fragrance to the Lord. We learned that as we declare and come aligned to his truth with our whole life and commit our lives to him is what moves God’s heart. Meditate on his truth that God desire for our heart and life to be the place where he comes to dwell and rest and he would find pleasure and communion with us. Such a good reminder that we are the resting place for God.

Twice a week my team and I go on home visits to pray, share the gospel and encourage families. One family we visited was a grandmother with two of her daughters and their children. The grandmother was telling us about her heart issues and her and one of her daughters dealt with some Covid symptoms. Due to low resources, she was telling us she couldn’t get medications or visit the doctor, so they made herbal teas and just rested at home. I volunteered to pray for the grandmother and while I was praying the daughter was tearing up. It was such a powerful moment of God’s presence.

Other home visits we did was Holy Spirit led which was so cool. We would begin with a listening prayer to open our hearts and minds to receive any words or images from God. During the prayer one of my teammates saw from God the color yellow and another teammate saw a castle. As we started walking our teammate noticed a guy wearing a yellow jacket driving a motorcycle and we noticed a castle like apartment. We decided to knock on the door and met a lady that owns the apartment. She invited us in and she shared her testimony with us and was on fire for God. She started to cry with tears of joy, saying God is with her. She gave us encouraging words and ministered to us. We also prayed for her. It was such an incredible moment.

Also between home visits we would stop for awhile and asked God what we should do next and see if anyone of us received any images or words from God. Then my teammate had a vision of a little girl with hungry eyes. When we finished praying a few seconds later down the street we saw a girl down the alley waving to us. So we decided to walk down the alley. We introduced ourselves to the little girl, then we met her mom. We had some good conversations with her and her mom, then we invited the daughter to the soccer program that afternoon where we were serving at. She agreed to let us take her daughter to the soccer program.

After we walked the little girl back home from the soccer program. Her mom invited us into their home. We offered to pray for her. At the end our team decided to give her a Spanish Bible that we were carrying around. One of our teammates started to write our encouraging words for her in the front page of the bible that we received during prayer with the family and the listening prayer that morning. I shared the encouraging words I received that morning “you are worthy and precious to God, God is with you always”. She was so grateful that we prayed for her and gave her the bible.

Doing home visits was so much fun and seeing the power of God move in this way was amazing. It was awesome that God gives us words and images that led us to these great encounters. As we walk in love in these places and follow the Holy Spirit lead, we give off his scent, his fragrance. The more I open my heart to him completely and ready to receive I can experience the sweet smelling aroma of his presence throughout many encounters. This week has been filled with incredible encounters and experiences of praying & encouraging families on home visits and interacting with the children at VBS.
