Serving in Honduras this past month has been such a blessing and filled with incredible experiences and special moments. I had such a great opportunity partnering and serving alongside with Catracho mission’s. It’s lead by two wonderful and inspirational people, pastor Paul Steer and his wife Tania. Their mission is to reach the gospel to everyone. I am so grateful to have met the locals in this community. They are so nice, welcoming and hard working. The views from the mountains has been spectacular and I’ve been in awe of God’s creation every day. Living in the mountains serving with Catracho mission’s has been so fun yet physically demanding.

This month we did a lot of manual labor and construction projects to help build a church and community center. Some of the projects we’ve done were building benches for their wifi area above the church, building tables, stools, sanded wood, making bamboo rails and helping with assembling bunk beds. Our squad made a lot of progress of getting these tasks done and it has been so fun and rewarding. We’ve also made several trips walking up the mountain to gather ply wood and carrying it to our campsite to be used for their church and community center. We also put some of our money together to help raise funds for supplies and materials needed to finish building their community center and church such as bricks and metal laminents for the roof. Also with the money we raised helped pay for the materials needed to finish building a reservoir for there community. With their reservoir we’ve helped with reforestation such as planting trees to help supply water to thirty homes in the area and the church.

On our first day of ministry we went to a farm to pick coffee beans and produce such as carrots, cucumbers and cabbage from the side of the mountain. The previous squad that served with Catracho mission’s several months ago had planted all the seeds. It was amazing to see the fruit of their labor and all the hard work they’ve done. All the produce that we’ve picked were used in our meals for our nourishment.

We’ve also hosted VBS for a few days which was really fun. On the first day we had 105 children show up. Having VBS was such a blessing for the children living in the mountains. We’ve helped make piñata’s for the children, served snacks & juice, we were in charge of games such as tug of war and we did a bible teaching. It was so awesome seeing the joy in the children and watching them have a great time.

One day Tania was sharing with us about how they would share the gospel to the women in the community while teaching them how to make banana bread. They made sharing the gospel in a way that was so simple and relatable. Also Catracho mission’s donated measuring cups to the women which was really nice since the women doesn’t have that much supplies to cook with at home. When they first started to reach out to the women in the community, they would go to their homes and teach them how to make banana bread.

God has moved so much through Catracho mission’s in powerful ways through connections and relationships with those in the community as seen through their church, home visits, VBS and the women’s ministry. God reminded me just how mighty and powerful he is. God is doing powerful work through Catracho mission’s deep in the mountains of Honduras. Serving alongside with them gave me a wonderful experience to see all the good work they’ve done in their community. God is at the center of their lives. He has given them so much strength every day to help the needs of the community.
